Cadillac Key Fob Battery Replacement for Vehicles 2014 and Newer

If you own a Cadillac from model year 2014 or later, the key fobs all work in the same general way. Replacing the battery requires the same steps as well. Here is how to open a Cadillac key fob and replace the battery inside:

  1. Find the small release button on the side of the key fob housing. Push this button to open the case and reveal the metal key.
  2. After lifting out the key, you’ll see a tiny opening. Gently insert a flathead screwdriver into this opening to pull apart the sides of the housing.
  3. On the inside of the fob, you’ll find the circuit board and battery. Remove the old battery–you may need to help it out with the end of the screwdriver–and replace it with the new one. A CR2032 battery is required for a Cadillac key fob battery replacement. Be sure that the positive side is facing downward when you install it.
  4. Now, carefully snap the housing back together, and your Cadillac key fob replacement is complete!

Now that you know how to change the battery in a Cadillac key fob, you might be curious about when you’ll need to perform this crucial task. Be mindful of these red flags, either of which indicates a dying key fob battery:

  • Unable to Lock or Unlock Doors: If your doors don’t lock or unlock via the key fob, or the panic button is inoperable, the battery is losing its charge. For your safety, plan to replace it as soon as possible.
